Carlos is Argentine and has a background as a military paratrooper. He served in Argentina, the Balkans, and Cyprus with the United Nations. He is passionate about sailing, adventure, exploration, and travel. He has sailed extensively in the South Atlantic, along the coasts of Argentina and Chile, and also enjoys sailing the waters of Uruguay and Brazil, appreciating their landscapes, natural beauty, and the warmth of their people.

Mariano is a former Army officer and a passionate seaman. He began sailing as a teenager and has sailed in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. By nature, Mariano is the person who solves problems on board. Skilled with boat maneuvers, when he is not at the helm or preparing the passage, he is cooking for the crew. He enjoys long conversations over a meal while sailing or in port, sharing stories and a good glass of wine.

Systems and Maintenance

Juan was born in Argentina and is in charge of the full maintenance of El Coronel. He knows every system on board in detail. Before joining the team, Juan worked aboard different types of vessels and offshore fishing boats. His experience solving problems at sea shaped his belief that everything must be simple and reliable. Juan is a lover of the sea and good cooking.

Nicolas Joubert

Skipper Nicolas Joubert

Skipper

Nicolas is French, a professional skipper with 35 years of experience, and an RYA Yachtmaster Ocean instructor. He has dedicated his life to the sea, offshore passages and the training of sailors through his sailing school in Port de Kernevel, France. Nicolas brings experience across many marine environments. He has led expeditions in the Arctic, ocean crossings and voyages across different continents and seas around the world. His experience, warmth and respect for the environment and marine life make him the perfect skipper to lead Terra Incognita expeditions.
